Salt Pond Sampling Expedition 2011

On February 5th, the Summons Lab traveled down to the Woods Hole area for our lab retreat. Part of the retreat involved sampling mud from the bottom of frozen-over Salt Pond, a brackish pond not far from the ocean. The mud (dark, organic rich, and sulphidic!) will be processed to extract its lipid biomarkers which will be used as standards to compare with other biomarker samples. Check out photos from our 'expedition' here!
