EGSAC meeting 11/9/05

0. EGSAC website hasn't been updated since Fall 2004

1. Calendars:

-Andrew M. handed off slide show pictures

-Julie will make calendars before she leaves to go observing in late Nov.

-Kyle will take care of selling them

-Make 75 this year

2. AGU peer hour

-Informal counterpart to department party (at a local bar, with food)

-Thursday of AGU

-Successful last year, Kyle will talk to 9th floor about funding

3. Next meeting on PAOC floor (16th floor classroom?)

-This hopefully will increase PAOC attendance

4. Ansel Adams exhibit at MFA

-Guided tour for our group?

5. GSC report: no news

6. Super Volcano movie

-With (free) dinner

-Will happen within the next couple of weeks

7. Visiting committee

-Evaluates research going on in the department, also evaluates grad student conditions (important for us)

-Schedule a meeting about this outside of regular EGSAC meeting (early December)

8. Ben's traveling dinner

-Ride around on bikes and have dinner at each other's houses

-Spring

9. Chili Cookoff

-Need volunteers to bring in appliances to heat chili (4 burners on 9th floor stove not enough)

-Let Isaac know if you plan to participate
