Meeting Minutes: 02Dec, 2004

Following are the minutes from EGSACs meeting last Friday:

1) Details of the EAPS calendar were discussed. I have looked into prices
for having the calendars made at Kinkos and we can have them printed for
$11 a calendar. I will be checking prices at the MIT copy center to see if
they can print them for cheaper. We will hopefully have them for sale at
this weeks holiday party and also at AGU (at the MIT party and also at our
booth). Chris had possible choices for pictures for the calendar at Peer
hour on Friday and gave people the choice of voting on which pictures would
be in the calendar. Kate is going to talk with Vicki about possibly having
the department pick up some of the printing cost and we are hoping to sell
them for $5 a piece.

2)We think we have a final for the EAPS T shirt. It will probably feature
an absolute Ida picture on the back with Ida face on a tea pot. We have
decided to put off purchasing the T shirts until after the new year since
much of our budget will go towards paying for the calendars.

3) AGU peer hour: Ben is going to find us a place to have AGU peer hour in
San Fran. Stay tuned for more details but it looks like it will happen on
Wed. night at a bar/pub hopefully around a 15 minute walk or so from the
conference center starting around 5pm.

4) Ben Crosby is a member of the Presidential Advisory board for the new
MIT President. According to Ben the student board has had an introductory
meeting with the President and this will be followed by three meetings
with the topics being 1)Academics 2)The MIT community 3)MIT's mission in
the world. Ben is wondering if there are any EAPS issues we would like him
to address with the new President. If you can think of anything contact
Ben.

5) GSC minutes will follow in an email either from me or James soon.

6)We discussed getting more faculty to show up to Peer hour in the future
by promoting it to the faculty following the occasional Friday
departmental seminar.

7) Danny has arranged to get money from the department for community mugs
for the IGL. The idea is that people could use these mugs rather than
styrofoam cups and then return them after they are used. Danny is looking
for any volunteers that might want to submit ideas for the design of the
cups.

8) Time to start thinking if there any fun things you might want to do
over IAP that could turn into EGSAC trips. If so either email me with
ideas or show up at the next EGSAC meeting with your thoughts.

Until Later,
Kyle
